Manager Jim Harris gets his mug in the fifth issue of the Farmers' Markets Ontario publication 'Market Matters', with a report on the 'pet waiting area' idea, initiated last year when the Market was at the Market Square location. The idea came about as a way of giving pet-owners a place to park pooch and still get to wander the Market aisles and shop. Aware that the presence of dogs is a problem for markets across the country, Harris presented the idea as a possible solution, at a gathering of market managers late last year. feetnote: the problem of the presence of dogs in a market is not new. At the opening of the new market building in Leeds, England, in 1857, there was a ban on dogs. Orillia Farmers' Market boasts two 'pet waiting' areas.
